Kelsey Papanicolaou

2020 TCS New York City Marathon Runner for Team StacheStrong

1) What does StacheStrong mean to you and how do you #LiveStacheStrong?

StacheStrong means a lot to me… strength, family, perseverance, support, unwavering faith, positivity, determination. Seeing the motivation behind this organization and how far StacheStrong has come is beyond words and gives us all inspiration every day. I #LiveStacheStrong by trying to be intentional and positive in all facets of my life. GJ was a true testament to seeing your blessings and choosing to be a positive force no matter what life throws your way. The ultimate definition of StacheStrong that I can think of is seeing GJ crush the Tunnel 2 Towers run in September 2018 with a smile on his face. I love everything this organization stands for and strive to carry out the values it is built on.

2) Why are you personally running?

I’ve been a runner since high school and try to participate in a few races a year. I have had the marathon “itch” for a long time. Our high school track coach took us to see his fiancee run the marathon in 2011 and we were able to see her coming off the 59th Street bridge. I’ll never forget the energy in that moment. The atmosphere was incredible overall, but to have made eye contact with her and support her in that moment.. it was really incredible. This past November, I was also lucky enough to see Nicky Delligatti entering LIC when he was representing StacheStrong in the marathon. Being a lifelong New Yorker, it will be an honor and a check off the bucket list to run the NYC marathon with this organization on my chest.
